There's something about the combination of hazy throwback samples, gauzy synths, and stuttering beats beyond just a passing hipster fascination--the fad now known obtusely as "chillwave" has been building from a number of sides for quite some time now, and if it breaks, we may see it melt into the bold new face of psychedelia. Just my prediction. We'll see.

The Daze 9/25/09: 'Wait, Where Was...' Edition

It's been a day of small surrealities. My bike lock is inexplicably stuck. The studio

lights keep flickering and fading (is the Blaze...haunted?). WinAmp keeps skipping

tracks ("where was 'No More Runnin'?" you may have asked. "'You Came To Me'?"). No one

knows. We're constantly ensnared in cosmic irregularity, call it bad luck, weak aura,

flawed magnetics, or simply shit happening. Still, the Daze stayed afloat amidst it all.
